Artificial intelligence is everywhere and is now in the private investigation field. With background check websites boasting “instant” results, AI powered apps promise to spot cheating, marriages, criminal records, divorces, and some tools claim they can track behavior patterns automatically. It all sounds impressive… until you realize AI can’t match the experience, intuition, and legal know how of a human private investigator. A lot of the data the AI background checks compose are completely false driven and do not show the truth or fact check anything!
AI can only work with the data it’s given. If that data is outdated, incomplete, or misleading, the results are too. A licensed PI knows where to find accurate, current information, often in databases and records AI tools can’t legally access, and can interpret it in the context of real world behavior. AI is also not always up to date so you will find data that is what we call “junk data”. Please be careful if you are trying to use AI as it simply does not get the job done and the capabilities are still not there!
When it comes to infidelity investigations, AI can’t sit in a car for 8 hours without being seen, anticipate a subject’s next move, or navigate the delicate line between legal and illegal surveillance. It can’t testify in court, and it definitely can’t handle a case that requires emotional intelligence and discretion.
AI can be a tool, but it’s not a replacement. If you need evidence you can trust and answers that hold up legally, hire a professional private investigator. At Root Investigations, we blend technology with human skill to get the truth both ethically, confidential, discreetly, and effectively.
