At Root investigations, we’re often asked if we can help with a missing persons case, and we absolutely can! In fact, our lead investigator, Lizzy Brock, recently appeared on ABC7’s new series “Missing” for her involvement in the Leanne Marie Hausberg investigation. Leanne went missing back in 1999, and to this day her family is still searching for answers on her disappearance. After nearly 23 years of searching, their persistence and tenacity ultimately led them to consult with a private investigator. In August 2021, Leanne’s sister contacted Root Investigations to see if we would be willing to assist with the on-going search for Leanne, which we were happy to do.
As of 2019, there are over 15,000 missing people in the United States alone. Generally, these cases fall into one of two categories: unintentionally missing people and intentionally missing people. Unfortunately, though, with these types of cases, uncovering answers is far more complicated than you might think. There are several privacy laws and legal boundaries that can often stall a case from moving forward. This is one of the main reasons why people hire private investigators to aid in their search. Private investigators are specifically trained to perform ethical investigations without breaking any laws.
Moreover, another great benefit of hiring a private investigator to work on a missing persons case is the fact they can continue to follow leads and collect information on a case many years down the line. The Leanne Marie Hausberg case is a perfect example of this. Even though the initial missing persons report was filed all the way back in 1999, Lizzy was able to jump in and work off of old leads and information, despite it being 22 years later.
